Methodology
Figures come from the APY Ledger CD rate index (version 1). For each exact term and FDIC certificate or NCUA charter, we take the highest APY applicable to a $10,000 deposit among quotes verified on the institution's own website within the past seven days. Relationship-only products are excluded; promotional, special and regional quotes qualify. Every institution counts once per term with equal weight, and each reported group needs at least 30 institutions.
This is a tracked sample of banks and credit unions (mostly over $1 billion in assets), not a deposit-weighted national average; it tends to run above the FDIC national rate, which averages all insured institutions. Medians and percentiles use linear interpolation. Treasury figures are par yields converted to APY-equivalent. Repricing counts come from observed APY changes. How we collect and verify rates.
